Do companies regard distance learning mbas the same way as they value MBA degrees earned in a regular school environment? Nowadays, that's the multi-thousand-dollar question exactly because that's how much it's going to cost to achieve the requirements for distance learning mba programs. And that's a giant sum of money to put at stake!

The increase in MBA degrees via an online education program is exploding and with so many students enrolling, companies are being forced to re-evaluate their thoughts on distance education degrees. They need to recognize that many of these distance learning degree programs are adept at producing the same quality graduates as traditional education environments. Even so, employers know that not all online learning centers are the same when it comes to curriculum, instruction and accreditation.
Employers also know that some MBA degrees from universities offering distance learning aren't worth the paper they're printed on. These are the degrees that have been issued by so-called 'diploma mills' - nothing more than non-accredited institutions that charge large amounts of cash for a worthless online education degree program. If you're considering working towards an online MBA by distance learning, stay away from these schools! Instead, pursue education degrees online only from honest institutions that have been accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting agency.

Distance learning business degrees from such an institution should be related in structure to that which one would earn if they attended school on campus. Students can work around the schedule of an online business education course, which is certainly one of the chief benefits of online learning, but they will still be listening to lectures, reading chapters from similar textbooks and participating in classroom discussions. They'll just do all while on the internet. Students pursuing online MBA degrees might also be exposed to podcasts, videoconferences and lectures that have been recorded.
Because most MBA programs also demand residency hours, even those who choose to partake in online business education probably will be required to physically participate in related workshops and other coursework. Online students will be mandated to take and pass several tests but they'll do so in the presence of a local proctor.
While the coursework and curriculum won't vary substantially, what is different is that online students can be more flexible in their scheduling. Some discover that with accelerated courses, they're able to achieve their MBA degree requirements faster than those who attend a traditional classroom environment. These are the major reasons why students select this route.
Interestingly, online education degrees aren't necessarily cheaper. As with any kind of degree, expenses differ considerably among institutions. In general, the more prestigious the granting online education university, the more the degree will cost the student. Students should be particularly suspicious of online distance education degrees that cost substantially less than their competitors. This isn't to say the program is a fraud or a trick, but those considering it should wisely study the institution's history, accreditation, and even speak with previous students before enrolling.
